KidLe
Development of intercultural games as pedagogic tools for the inclusion of pupils with migrant background in new learning environments
REFERENCE: KA220-SCH - Cooperation partnerships in school education
YEARS: 2023-2025
GOALS

Develop intercultural board games to enhance the integration of migrant students into new educational settings.
The games will be developed through a collaborative process involving students, parents, and teachers. The focus will be on improving the communication and learning skills of children within the educational contexts of their new schools.
Educational Games Developed within the KidLe Project
As part of the European KidLe Project, five educational games were created, initially in board-game format and later adapted to digital versions. These games aim to promote socio-emotional, intercultural, and inclusion-related competencies in school settings.
PORTUGAL, ISCTE-IUL ( CIS-IUL)
In Portugal, the game "Space Inclusion" was developed and is now available online through Zenodo.
The game’s design is grounded in theoretical models of socio-emotional and intercultural skills, as well as in participatory methodologies. Its development included:
-
Co-creation workshops with children, families, and teachers
-
Focus groups with teachers and with migrant and native parents
Set in a space-themed narrative, the game is structured around three thematic planets:
Players progress cooperatively as a team, guided by a facilitator, and engage in collaborative tasks that promote active participation, cooperation, and communication.
